In an age of do-it-yourself home repairs, there are plenty of reasons to still call a professional plumber. There are certain plumbing repairs that need a licensed plumber to assess and repair properly. Let’s take a look at four common plumbing repairs that may need you to call a plumber.

Losing Hot Water in One Faucet When Another is Turned On

In many older homes, hot and cold water pressures aren’t balanced. The solution for this plumbing repair is to install a pressure balance valve. This is certainly not something the typical homeowner would know the first thing about doing.

If you want to ensure that a hot water problem is fixed, you definitely want to hire a plumber to ensure the root of the issue is identified and repaired correctly. What can begin as an annoyance can turn into a bigger plumbing problem and repair later.

Slow Drains

If you have slow drains in your home, it may be because they are partially clogged. There are certainly products that you can use to try and relieve clogs. But, there may be other things causing the slow draining issue.

In the case of a kitchen sink draining slowly, for example, there may be nothing wrong with the sink plumbing at all. It could actually have to do with the dishwasher plumbing instead. It may be difficult and time-consuming for the average homeowner to assess whether the sink drain itself needs to be unclogged, the dishwasher plumbing needs to be repaired, or if there’s a bigger plumbing issue that needs to be resolved. This is why you should call a pro plumber if a draining problem persists.

Rattling Pipes

If you have pipes that are consistently rattling, there may be several reasons for this. The most common reason for rattling pipes is not being properly secured or strapped to the wall frame. Those pipes will need to be properly secured. While it’s certainly possible to do this yourself to some extent, the professional expertise of a licensed plumber is certainly the better choice in making this plumbing repair.

A pro plumber will ensure that the proper materials and parts are used in a plumbing repair or installation. Save yourself the time and potential mistakes you could make on your own, and call an experienced plumber.

Toilet Tank Leaks

Duct tape isn’t the best solution for leaks in your toilet tank. The best way to know exactly should be done to repair a toilet tank is by calling a plumber. There may be seals that need to be replaced. It could also be that other plumbing parts that aren’t functioning properly. The entire tank may even need to be replaced. As one of the most important plumbing pieces in your home, you definitely want the knowledgeable plumber on hand to repair a toilet tank issue.

To make sure these plumbing problems and many others are properly repaired, never be afraid to call a licensed plumbing contractor.
